Heroine Make-up from Japan!

Hello Everyone!

Today I've a quick post on a Heroine make-up compact all the way from Japan - I'm very lucky that one of my good friends bought this back for me on a recent trip there a few months ago! (Sadly the Kit-Kats she also bought back for me didn't quite make it to the photos!)

The powder compact comes packaged on the cute little card - inside has the powder, a mirror and a little puff for applying it with. I really like the illustration on the packaging, I think it'd draw my eye to it in a store.

The powder itself is the lightest that they do - it's quite pigmented but not heavy. It applies very smoothly. It doesn't have much of a scent either which is good for those that don't like perfumed products

The coverage is very good too - I've not blended the edge in so you can see where the powder is - it's a pretty good match for my skin tone. My skin felt very soft and smooth after applying this - the only thing I did find was that it didn't last terribly long and needed touching up around lunch time and again later on in the day, but that could just be skin type, I imagine for someone with normal to dry skin this powder would be ideal.

Bonus photo! This was my make up with the Heroine Make Powder! As an over all powder for fixing foundation I found I had a few problems. It seemed to react differently with different foundations - for some reason when used with the Benefit Flawless foundation, it went super orange! I also found that it didn't react well to one of Miss Sporty's BB cream as it went a different shade of orange! However used on it's own its fine, it doesn't react and is great for days when you only want a little bit of coverage.

Have you ever tried any of Heroine's make up? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

~*~ REVIEW ~*~ Etude House Dear Girls Oil Control Pact - Positive

Hello Everyone!

I recently purchased a small haul of make up! After posting a photo to the sites Facebook page quite a few people asked me to review my purchases when they arrived, so as promised, here's a review for the first that arrived, Etude House's Dear Girls Oil pact.

Now, my reason for purchasing this is quite simple, I suffer from combination skin and usually use a UK purchased coloured powder compact to combat this, which was all fine and dandy until I realised that despite trying several different brands, both high and low brand, NONE of them match my skin tone. Not even close. (Don't get me started on foundation, that's a story for another day!) The closet match I could find was oddly Poundlands own brand, but it seems like this is never in stock in the right shade.

So off I set on the internet to try and find something that was suitable for combination skin that wouldn't leave me looking like a can of Tango. I did consider buying the same pact I had before from Etude house but I couldn't find any for sale and came across the Dear Girls pact and Zero Sebum. I went for the Dear Girls powder as I wanted a compact I could easily throw in my bag and take out and about with me. So I placed my order online (This was not direct from Etude but the AU Rose Rose shop.) Then waited for my make up to turn up! This didn't take very long to arrive at all and came wrapped up in bubble wrap in a sturdy box.

First things first, look out how cute the packaging is! I really love Etude's attention to detail with these boxes, they are always bright and happy looking. The box also has the ingredients list and other useful information in Korean and in English.

Inside was the compact! This is made of a smooth plastic with the Dear Girls logo on it. It feels very well made and is easy to open, but not so easy that it would come open in your bag.

Opening the compact you'll find a mirror, a sponge for applying the power and the powder itself. The mirror is great, it's very clear and not blurred at all.

The powder has an adorable bird design on it! It smells quite delicate and isn't heavily fragranced.

The puff is perfect for picking up just the right amount of powder and lets you apply it where you need it smoothly. It's very easy to apply as it just glides on.

Being white I was a little worried this would wash me out as I am already quite pale, but it didn't at all. (I didn't blend this in so well on my hand so you could see where the powder was, else it's fairly invisible!) I was really pleased with how long this lasted - I usually apply make up before leaving for work (around 6:30-7:15am) and this lasted till about 3:00pm before I needed to touch it up! It's also very light so it doesn't feel like your skin is caked in powder.

I'm really pleased with this purchase and I'd definitely buy it again. At just under £5 I think this is well worth the price as a little goes quite a long way too!

Have you tried out this compact before? Let me know you thoughts in the comments!

Max Factor Colour Elixir lipstick - Ruby Tuesday

Hello Lovelies!

Today I thought I'd share with you a new lipstick I recently tried! This is Max Factor's Colour Elixir lipstick in Ruby Tuesday. I received this as part of a SoPost campaign.

I was really surprised when it arrived as I was expecting a sample, not a full size lipstick, which was pretty amazing! The outer case is a gold metal with a clear base which has a little of lipstick in so you can easily see which colour is which with out having to open the case.

Inside the lipstick has a big X imprinted on it for Max Factor - the wind up mechanism was smooth and went up and down easily. (Always a bonus so you don't waste the product!)

Colour swatch! This was super bright and pretty, I always love bright reds but I'm never quite sure they suit me. The lippy was very easy to apply and you can build up the colour. The formula is quite creamy and smooth.

And a bonus photo of me wearing it! I really quite like this lipstick, so much so that I've worn it pretty much every day for a week straight, and bought another in a different shade! It lasts really well too, I've only had to reapply it once or twice after lunch!

Have you tried out this lippy? Let me know your thoughts!

MAC cosmetics

Hello Lovelies,

Whilst on a recent business trip I ended up stuck at an airport for a few hours due to delays with our flight. I took the time to wander around the duty free and found they had a MAC cosmetics counter! I used to buy MAC make up quite a long time a go (I'm not actually sure why I stopped buying it!) and still have some of the eye shadows as they are fantastic. My go to beige colour had just about run out so I decided to pick up a new one as it was cheaper here than in my local store!

So this is the eye shadow I picked up - I wanted this for blending into other colours and as a base, it's a really lovely soft beige, it applies very well with a brush and gives the amount of coverage I wanted. Better yet it blends excellently with both dark and light colours and is now my go to base eye shadow!

Now this I hadn't planned on buying, this is one of MACs matte lipsticks in Diva - but whilst I was looking at the eye shadows the assistant asked if I needed any help. I'd been looking for a long lasting dark red for awhile, but I tend to find the shiny lipsticks in red bleed everywhere and rub off very quickly! The assistant suggest three shades and this was the one I picked and I'm so glad I did, It's amazing! The colour is perfect, it doesn't bleed (therefore doesn't require lip liner) and it stays put! Seriously, I could probably get away with out re-applying this for most of the day!

Everything together! I've blended the eye shadow with another for the smoky look! I'm pretty happy with my purchases though I do believe this has re-kindled my love for MAC cosmetics!

You Beauty Discovery Box - October ~*~ Positive ~*~

Hello Lovelies!

Today's post is a review of the October You Beauty Discovery box.

This months box was dedicated to Hand Bag heroes - things that you can pop in your bag and take out and about with you. I'm not really sure I'd agree with that Handbag hero's part as the two standard items seems to be anti-aging products!

As before there was a little booklet explaining what each of the items were, how to use them and a couple of discounts as well. I opted for the perfume and lipstick, though in retrospect I wish I'd gone for the eye shadow instead of the perfume.

The first thing I found in the box was this little sachet of Cowshed Anti-ageing night serum - Apparently the RRP for this is rather high so I'm looking forward to trying it, though I'm not really sure I need anti-aging products yet!

This was the other set item - a bottle of gold collagen drink for ages 40+. Now I'm quite happy to say I am no where near 40 and I'm not convinced how good drinking this for you would be! I've not tried it yet and not sure I will.

Illamasqua Glamore lipstick in Cherub - This was one of my pick items and I'm glad I did, I'd heard lots about Illamasqua and jumped at the chance to try out their product. I love the shade - its a orangey red. It's also great at staying where applied and doesn't seem to dry out my lips.

This was the other of my chosen items Nilan perfume - I love the way this is presented, how ever I'm not so sure about the scent - it's quite heavy. It's also not a spray bottle which I prefer and would keep in my handbag, so this is sitting pretty at home on my dressing table.

So this months box was a bit hit and miss but I'm definitely happy with my lipstick! I've rated this box as positive as the lipstick alone would have been £18.50 and the box only cost £6.95 so I'm pretty pleased with this and can't wait to see what the options are for next months box!
